According to information obtained by JoyNews, the suspension resulted from differences in the results from 20 polling stations; of the 62 polling stations that remain in the constituency, 42 have been cleared. The returning officer claims that he needs a full day to confirm the results from the 20 polling stations before announcing the legitimate winner of the seat. In the meantime, the Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, and Techiman South constituencies saw successful collation, with NPP candidates winning all three seats.
A disagreement between the two major parties, the NDC and the NPP, regarding who had won the seat was followed by the recall of the constituency's results. Later, the NPP filed a lawsuit to have the collation procedures, which were completed earlier today, completed.
